A core is defined as the
central or most important part of something. Basically, your identity is your
core-it is your person-your essence at the center of it all-at the center of
your thoughts, your actions, your dispositions, your beliefs lies your core.
And the thing is, if you
don’t understand your core, your identity, everything else is thrown off
balance. This is why I refer to identity so much whenever I talk about anything
to do with personal progress.
To actualize destiny you need
to connect with it. And to experience this connection, you need to nurture
identity.
You may ask, well how do I
find out my identity? Well, I like to make the point always that this really is
a process of self-discovery and personal growth. It is the same as nurturing
any other relationship-you start with introduction.
To introduce means to bring a
subject to the attention of someone-so bring yourself attention to yourself. In
other words-focus the lens on your personality. Start with your name as you
would when you meet a friend. And then find points of interest-your likes, your
dislikes, your hobbies-the same conversation you have with those you have just
been introduced to is the same conversation you should begin to nurture with
yourself.
This is how it all
starts-introduction.
And from introduction,
exploration begins. In life, we have a cornucopia of experiences, so many
different colours and textures of influence have shaped the habitat of our
mental and personal environment and dispositions-and each needs to be explored
to create a richer and much fuller experience of yourself.
This is why it is so
important to start from introduction, so you can appropriately distinguish
experiences that flow from exploration.
And from exploration, comes
revelation. This is such a beautiful process that is never ending but
consistently intertwined in our daily experiences and challenges-it is a
vibrant thread that runs all around our life engagements and explorations and
creates a beautiful tapestry of potent force and fire that can ignite another
individual’s purpose.
That is the beauty in the
process of identity. It is a river of different tastes and textures and colours
that provide a beautiful story of unique beauty through individual experiences
and self appreciation.
This is why it is so vital to
enjoy yourself-celebrate your authenticity. Your footprint is unique-the Earth
needs your words, your thoughts, it needs your recipe for individuality.
And if you fail to engage it,
it becomes a wasted experience. This is why it is so dangerous to attach
yourself to another person’s identity. I emphasise the fact that the Earth can
smell a counterfeit-this is the reason why so many fail to make a mark on
another person’s footprint-because the Earth and essentially people recognize
through an inbuilt impression of recognizing originality, that it is
counterfeit.
I understand that this
journey is not easy and it is in no way rapid-I remember struggling to find my
identity for a while, and it was such a confusing journey that led me into many
experiences that took more from who I was than contributed to who I am. But you
know what, even those tiny spots of pain, or prolonged experiences of grief,
are all part of the thread that is woven into your unique journey-and the truth
is, as the colours combine to create a unique combination of truth in tragedy,
and purpose in pain, and even strength through weakness, you are confronted
with your true identity in the process.
So embrace whatever season
you are in-even if you don’t understand it-I can tell you one truth, every
single second of time that has been used in your life, serves a greater purpose
in the prose that contains your own fingerprints.
And it will come to light
through your darkness, there will be revelation through your pain, that will
contribute to the person you have been and essentially build you into the
person you really are at your core.
All these experiences act
together to give you a voice that speaks with truth, a poise that speaks of
purpose, a passion that burns with a unique fire because you have gone through
the flames of pain, mixed with the coals of collision that have purged you
through and through into the beautiful ornament of originality that is
contained in your identity-this is the unique light that burns through your
core when you speak-so embrace the journey towards discovering your identity-it
is really the most important part of the journey towards connecting with
destiny.
